Northwood · HA6 · Moor Park

Large homes,
moved carefully.

Northwood is a suburb of substantial houses — detached, Edwardian, mock-Tudor, arts-and-crafts — on private roads and long driveways, with apartments and family homes alongside them. That mix needs a firm that surveys properly and turns up with enough people.

  • Surveyed in person for larger houses, not guessed from photos
  • Private-road and estate access arranged in advance
  • Discreet crews, protected floors, nothing rushed

Are we the right firm for you?

A straight answer rather than a sales page.

Probably yes if…

  • It is a larger detached or period house
  • The property is on a private road or a gated estate
  • There is furniture you would rather nobody rushed
  • You want the same crew from start to finish

Probably not if…

  • You want the cheapest van available this weekend
  • The whole job is one item and a short drive
  • You would rather nobody surveyed it first

If it is the second list, say so and we will point you at something better suited.

Moor Park and the private estates

Private roads, estate management, gate access and a strong preference for vehicles that are not parked across somebody's frontage all morning. We work there often enough to know the etiquette.

The housing here

Built large,
and built to stay.

Northwood went up largely between the wars, when the Metropolitan line reached it and London decided the countryside was a reasonable commute. What it built was substantial: detached houses on generous plots, arts-and-crafts and mock-Tudor frontages, and later the private Moor Park estate around the golf course.

Ninety years on, those houses are full. Lofts converted, cellars used, garages extended, garden rooms added. A four-bedroom house here regularly holds more than a six-bedroom new-build, and that is the single most common reason a quote from elsewhere turns out to have been optimistic.

It is also why we survey in person rather than from photographs on anything larger than an apartment. Half an hour on site tells us what no video call will.

House removals in HA6

Original staircases

Galleried landings and handsome turned bannisters that mark if you look at them. Boarded and padded before the first item moves.

Furniture built in situ

Wardrobes and dressers that went in before a later wall did. Sometimes the answer is a window; we establish that at survey, not on the landing.

Long driveways

Generous plots mean a longer carry from the vehicle, and gravel that a loaded trolley does not enjoy. Both are planned rather than discovered.

Outbuildings

Garages, sheds, garden rooms and cellars. Where a Northwood quote grows if nobody counted them, so we count them.

HA6 and the edges

A deliberately tight patch. We would rather know these roads than claim half of north-west London — and several neighbouring districts have their own firms in this network.

Private estate

Moor Park

One of the country's best-known private estates — gated, private roads, a golf course at its centre and a Grade I mansion. Moves there run to the estate's rules rather than ours, and knowing that in advance is most of the job.

HA6

Northwood

The core. Large interwar detached housing, the town centre, and the roads running up towards the golf course.

HA6

Northwood Hills

Denser and more mixed — semis, terraces and apartments around the station, with easier access than the big houses.

WD3

Rickmansworth

Over the Hertfordshire border and a natural extension of the patch — Chorleywood Road, the Aquadrome side, and Batchworth.

UB9

Harefield

Village property and the lanes around it — closer to rural access than anything else in the patch. Full coverage.

Further afield

Moving out of the country

Removals from Northwood to four European countries, route-pair planned. A heavier packing standard, customs paperwork prepared with you, and a longer lead time than a move across HA6.

How European moves work

Questions we get asked

Do you survey larger houses in person?

Yes. A video walk-round is fine for an apartment, but a substantial detached house with a cellar, a loft, a garage and a garden room is not something anyone should price from a phone screen. For those we come and look. It takes half an hour and it is the reason our quotes hold.

Our road is private. Does that complicate things?

It changes the arrangements rather than the job. Private roads and gated estates — Moor Park in particular — often have their own rules about vehicle access, delivery hours and where a lorry may stand. We check with the estate rather than assuming, and we do it before the day rather than at the gate.

How discreet are you?

As discreet as you would like. Some people want the vehicle out of sight of the road and the crew to keep to the side entrance; others do not mind at all. It is a perfectly normal thing to ask for in this area and we would rather you said so at survey than hoped.

What about antiques and pieces we care about?

Tell us which they are at survey and we will handle them separately — wrapped properly rather than blanketed, carried last, and kept together. If something is genuinely exceptional we may recommend a specialist for that one item rather than take it on ourselves.

Do you cover Watford, Pinner or Ruislip?

Our patch is HA6 — Northwood, Northwood Hills and Moor Park — out to Rickmansworth and Harefield. Watford and Pinner have their own firms in this network who know those streets properly, and Ruislip is covered separately too. Ask us and we will point you at the right one rather than stretch.

Tell us about the move

Both addresses, roughly what is going, and whether the property is on a private road. We will arrange a survey and put the figure in writing.
